Le Quynh Anh

Vietnam

Filmmaker

Artist in residence from 9 January to 3 March 2024

Anh is an alumni of Locarno Open Doors and Rotterdam Lab, among others, and an artist of “Things That Remember”, an international site specific art shows in 2016-2018. Her graduation short film “As I Lay Dying” was selected in regional film festivals, such as Busan International Short Film Festival 2021. She went on to direct the documentary series “Cinema Workers” (2020 - commissioned by Vietnam Cinema Department) and feature documentary “The Path Of Happiness” on VTC national channel network. She also co-produced "Inside The Yellow Cocoon Shell'' which won Cannes' Camera d’Or 2023.

Anh is exploring new expressions in her works, especially using nouveau technology with the constant evolution of cinema. For her latest short film “Goodnight Baby” (which was in competition in SGIFF 2023), she experimented with AI to convey the endless stream of thought of the protagonist projecting herself into the online content.

At the moment she is developing her directorial debut feature called “At The Edge Of The Sea” and a short film called “White Summer” which is due to shoot in 2024. Both revolve around the same themes of navigating through the online world and the decaying living conditions in the midst of a changing environment.
