Sofia Albanese

Sofia Albanese is a Berlin-based composer and producer. Her extensive experience in classical and jazz music combined with her conservatory studies merged into different electronic projects and music for documentaries. Over the past few years, she focused on digital tools for content creation, deepening softwares like Ableton, Max MSP, After Effect, Unreal Engine. Nowadays, her artistic research focuses on the audio–visual art world, looking at new releases of audio visual engines and mapping technologies.

She works together with the artist Emanuele Costanzo under the name of Niagara, a transmedial project that tries to explore new linguistic possibilities and to portray the multidimensional nature by which human beings perceive and experience the environment. They are particularly interested in the critical relationship between ethics and AI as a tool for inclusion and understanding of the possibilities that new technologies can offer when integrated in our reality.

Sofia and Emanuele are the winners of the “From Earth” grant, kindly supported by Stiftung Sulzberg.
